Outbrain is seeking an IT Manager to join our global Information Technology team, supporting our six offices across Europe and an employee population of around 120 people. Based out of our London office and reporting to the IT Manager for EMEA/APAC, we are looking for a solution-driven problem solver who can balance corporate demands within a start-up style environment. This role is not for someone who is used to managing a large team and wishes to continue in a managerial tole, as you will only have responsibility one intern, though you will have occasional support from the wider global IT team.

Outbrain is the world’s leading content recommendation platform. We work with many of the world’s leading online publishers and brands, helping them monetise their offering and drive customers to their content. Most of our European employees (and your internal customers) are client facing, in sales or account management type roles, with small European HQ functions in London.

Travelling is expected between our EU locations.

Deliverables:

The IT Manager will maintain our servers, Cloud infrastructure , network and desktop infrastructure throughout Outbrain's locations in Europe. As the only IT Manager on the ground in Europe (with support from an IT Intern) the successful candidate must be a self-starter with the confidence and experience to provide day-to-day operational support, take ownership of all the IT services in our EU locations, lead strategic IT projects and interact with departments to identify and implement new technology solutions.

Your first six months will look like this:

  • In your first few weeks you will be introduced to Outbrain’s IT Infrastructure and Tools, learn how to support the End Users, maintain the networking environment and collaborate with other team members across the department.
  • You will work with Linux servers, Vidyo conferencing systems, Virtual environments, networking and firewalls learn how to automate common procedures and ensure high levels of security and availability.
  • You will visit our EU offices to get to know the infrastructure and meet the relevant employees and managers of each region. 

What you’ll need to be successful:

Technical Skills/Experience:

 

  • MAC laptop support experience/ Windows laptop/desktop support - Essential
  • Linux knowledge - would be a plus
  • Vmware hypervisor, installing and managing virtual machines - would be a plus
  • Networking , Switching (VLAN) , Routing and DNS/DHCP knowledge - Essential
  • Firewall knowledge, VPN connections - Essential
  • Experience supporting Multi OS platforms - Essential
  • Have a Lan /Wan knowledge, security and Telecoms - would be a plus

 

Other Skills/Experience:

 

  • You’re likely to be working in an SME environment, perhaps in standalone role (or a small team setting) getting your hands dirty with every conceivable task involved in managing systems & IT support
  • You must have demonstrable experience leading projects from start to end
  • Flexible and can understand and overcome challenges head on
  • Experience working with external vendors and suppliers and maintaining work contracts
  • Great people skills and the ability to work in collaboration with other team members & internal customers
  • Ability to travel to EU offices - sometimes at relatively short notice (generally one trip per quarter)
