Content Writer

Outbrain is looking for a part-time (50% position) editor and writer to support our content team’s paid Media, SEO, and SEM efforts. This role will report to Outbrain’s global managing editor but collaborate closely with Outbrain’s global paid media team.

We are looking for an exceptional writer and editor who is organized, quick, hands-on, collaborative, and experienced in delivering excellent content on deadline. This candidate should be able to create copy that generates leads -- while also balancing creative integrity and attention to quality. Additionally, this candidate should have experience using wordpress and a good understanding of SEO best practices.

The writer/editor should have experience with all forms of writing — CTAs, web copy, blogs, articles, case studies, white papers, video scripts, technical writing, infographics, and speeches. Ghostwriting experience is an added plus. Additionally, this candidate should have a solid understanding of hot button topics and trends within digital media, adtech, martech, B2B marketing, and experience writing for personas.

We’re ideally looking fore someone who is comfortable quickly executing on others’ goals and is happy -- and even excited -- to offer their own spin on SEO-driven copy. This person should also be comfortable with putting someone else byline on the copy they create.

Added pluses for this position are experience with tracking the performance of your content (and iterating based on performance).

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Ability to research and write exceptional copy of all forms.
  • Prior experience and comfort with writing SEO-driven copy.
  • Prior experience writing copy that successfully generated qualified leads.
  • Experience independently managing time and adhering to an editorial calendar.Ability to quickly comprehend personas and create content targeted to them.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and efficient.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience with Wordpress.
  • Experience using Google Analytics and other tools to measure content performance.
  • Someone who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty.
  • Storytelling skills.
  • Creative eye.
  • Ability to weave a narrative out of new events and/or data.
  • Team player -- highly collaborative and generous.
  • Thrives in change — adaptive and flexible to a quickly changing work environment.


  • Minimum 3 years of experience in with writing and editing
  • A good assortment of clips showing past experience  writing lead gen and SEO-driven copy .
  • Knowledge of adtech, martech and a keen understanding of the digital landscape.
  • Highly organized and skilled at project management
  • Native English speaker.
